The Stepfamily Straight Talk show host, Tricia Powe, enjoys encouraging others and challenging them to see things from a balcony view. The vehicle used to get them there is the innovative program ACES: Step Family Focal Points [formerly Stepping In for Successful Blended Family Living, 1990]. Powe enjoyed an experiential run on Internet Talk Radio from July through September at NewDayTalkRadio.com. Powe has been contacted by Brad Saul, President of Matrix Media, Chicago, with an opportunity to broadcast on a larger venue. Family-minded sponsor partners may contact Brad directly at Matrix Media to become a sponsor partner and reach the listeners of 200 affiliate stations.
.
Meanwhile, Powe has been focusing on developing A Richter Blend, Stepfamily Chronicles, a special feature of this website, for film. "It is a true-to-life, integral part of the StepfamilySystems.com brand of unique, positive and affordable stepfamily and shared parenting support available in our Step Family Focal Points Corner," said Powe. She is also overseeing a survey project on stepfamily/shared-parenting satisfaction and parental alienation experiences. The goal is to report the collective results of 10,000 surveys to educators, legal and mental health professionals.

Print BIO – With a lifetime of experience and certification in Divorce Mediation (American Bar Association approved, Mosten, Los Angeles, 1998) Powe is well prepared to coach families. Powe was born into a stepfamily that failed. She has two brothers and two sisters by two other mothers, two sisters by two other fathers, two brothers by adoption when she was five, and two stepbrothers today. Powe is the second wife in a 25-year marriage, and has loved and mothered five grown children ages 32 to 19. Of the five, three children-in-step - born in the heart, and two biological children - born the old-fashioned way!
.
Powe's independent research began in the second half of the 1980s.  In 1990, prior to presenting her 6-week blended-family living coaching program, Powe visited Stepfamily Association of America Co-Founder Emily Visher for insights and approval. Her innovative work changing the traditional thoughts of stepfamily and shared parenting support has been recognized by two Who's Who organizations. She and her husband celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 2010.
.
Powe, who suffered injuries and head trauma in car accidents in 1976, 1979, 1980 and 1983, had a fifth car accident with neck injury in 1992. The accident of '79 opened the doors to a reunion with her birth-mother through a get-well card which contained a picture of her birth-mother and sisters. Trying to reconnect with a disjointed past she thought was out of reach, she experienced torn loyalties as her extended-family parents from her adoption were uncomfortable with a reunion and potential clash of a two-mother situation. In search of answers to the confusing, limited memories of a five-year-old, she facilitated communication with her birth-mother using a high-schools friend’s address for a year. She felt guilty for wanting the answers which made her adoptive parents so uneasy and threatened by their fear of loss. Alienation Project Fundraising - Donations and Silent Auction Fundraiser
Parental Alienation behaviors has many painful layers and is disrupting and destroying lives worldwide.
"It only lasts for a season, while the parents are going through divorce," I have been told. In its best case scenarios, when there are hurting but generally healthy parents, they can come to their senses and stop the self-centered and destructive behaviors. However, as in independent researcher since the late 1980s, I have come to know and breathe a different story; it is a story that has to be told. It is one where legal and mental health arenas must wake up from their slumber. We are under the wing of encouragement from Carole Dean from Roy W. Dean Writing & Film Grants. We seek and lobby your financial support for this very important film project to tell the true-to-life stories of "A Richter Blend, Stepfamily Chronicles". For contributions that exceed your options here, mail to PA Film Project, .

She and her husband understand challenges. Until October of 2009, her work had been intermittent for 19 years. In their 25 years of marriage, her husband endured several job changes with companies downsizing and merging in the 1980s and 1990s. They have lived happily in 12 homes, and faced a gut-wrenching bankruptcy in 1990 after financially-draining family law court cases (two with improvements and one with no change) paired up with loss of employment. After long good-byes, she lost her mother to Alzheimer’s Disease, and her dad to cancer/heart disease/renal faliure. She feels fortunate to enjoy a relationship with her birth-mom and maternal sisters today.
.
Powe successfully rebuilt relationships with her birth-mother and two maternal sisters. She found her birth-father, who came to the United States from Denmark, had passed away only a couple of years before finding his death certificate through an Internet search. The death certificate and additional Internet searches lead her to four paternal siblings. She has talked to one younger brother who is near the same age as her own daughter. She has also corresponded with a paternal sister she knew but lost in early childhood through the annullment of her birth-parents' marriage.
.
Today she speaks with sincere thanksgiving for the trials that have given her greater insights on human heartache, enhanced her compassion for others and provided her a platform for sharing about how to overcome life's challenges.
.
Powe has earned Certificates in Philanthropy and Development from the Center for Philanthropy at La Sierra University's School of Business (Dr. Jim Erickson) and in Divorce Mediation in 1998 (ABA-Approved - Mosten, Los Angeles).
Powe has been an independent researcher of stepfamily and shared-parenting dynamics since the 1980s. She enjoys writing, Bible study, bowling from time to time and credits her two moms for cherishing her marriage and family. There are no perfect relationships, but Powe has found her way to acceptance of things as they are as she has been in blended families all her life. She still enjoys taking day-long trips to parks and beaches, mountain and desert communities where she spent days with the combined, crew of five kids while they were young.
.
